HISTORY OF LEGENDZ
The Legendz Sports Academy idea has been years in the making. After participating in sports at the high school level and beyond and coaching youth sports for a number of years, a few men in our community began kicking around ideas on how we could improve upon the way we were giving back to our community while also meeting the demand for the development of young athletes. These individuals have continued their love for teaching and athletics as volunteer coaches in many different youth sports in our community for years and athletics is the mechanism that they have chosen to teach life skills to kids.
The demand for organized fitness programs and programs that focuses on the development of younger athletes has reached an all-time high. The founders of Legendz believe that many youth sports programs, while addressing the demands for improved athletic performance, have lost focus for the underlying reason and purpose children participate in sports. The underlying purpose children participate in sports is because it is an activity they find fun and a desire to interact with friends. Legendz recognized the migration away from this purpose and also recognized that the demand for professional instruction in youth sports. Hence, the founders of Legendz have designed a program that meets the demands of developing young athletes, but also maintaining the importance of keeping the game fun and teaching life lessons.
Members of the community began meeting and exploring the Legendz organization concept. In 2008, these individuals began the creation of a fitness and training academy and a player development system that would bring all non-recreation athletes and coaches in our community under one umbrella with a common goal of developing our young men and women as athletes and as future community leaders.
In 2010, Legendz Sports Academy, Inc. was incorporated as a non-profit corporation and began charting a plan to conquer its stated mission. With the help of our many volunteers and corporate partners, we are well on our way to serving the needs of the kids in our community.
A major difference between Legendz and many competitors is that Legendz is not for profit allowing them to keep cost affordable and their programs are guided by the priority of character development first and athletic performance second. Thanks to these many unselfish and grateful volunteers, Legendz will continue to provide specialized training in the sport of their choosing for years to come and they will learn a lot about life and character along the way.
